Hartford Girls Rock!
Hartford Girls Rock! is an annual program developed to celebrate, inspire, empower and honor young women of the Greater Hartford community. The young women selected for this honor have been identified by local community-based organizations and represent the goals and standards of their respective organization. In the months leading up to this signature brunch, where last year’s attendance exceeded 600 persons, the honorees participate in workshops on goal-setting, healthy choices, career exploration, self-empowerment and civic engagement.
This brunch event has featured phenomenal keynote speakers. In 2016, Bloomfield native and Tony Award-winning actress, Anika Noni Rose, shared her story of growing up in Connecticut and her journey from the Bloomfield Public School system to an accomplished acting career. In 2017, three-time Olympic Gold medalist, Gabby Douglas, shared the story of her journey to becoming the first African-American woman to win an Olympic Gold medal in the Gymnastics All-Around Individual event. Gabby inspired the hundreds of attendees with her success story while highlighting the importance of family.
Proceeds from this event provide FEO with the financial support to positively impact the Greater Hartford area by advancing our efforts to provide scholarships to deserving college-bound students and leverage the capacity of our community programming.
